This is the official website for writer, business owner, and licensed insurance agent Lou Pickney.
Note: By popular request, I'm going to bring back some of the past blog entries on here. How exactly I'm going to do that remains to be seen. Going through and scrubbing past entries of various things like WWE trying to blur out the WWF Attitude logo from its archival video is not what I have in mind, but there are some select entries that I will be bringing back at some point.
I work as an independent agent representing Aflac insurance. The state of Tennessee has licensed me to sell health and life insurance within the state, though the primary area of concentration for my business is in the Middle Tennessee area. Aflac is not like what you might normally think of as insurance, and I believe very strongly in the great value that exists in the policies that Aflac offers.
Since 2003 I have operated Draft King, a website devoted to the National Football League's annual draft. It started by chance thanks to a mock draft that I created on this site; hits began pouring in and people gave me some great feedback about what I had done, so I took that and created Draft King.
Since I obtained the DraftKing.com domain name, I have developed it into a website that has drawn a devoted group of followers and casual readers alike numbering literally in the millions on a yearly basis. It's the perfect mix of two of my passions: writing and football.
I have been fortunate enough to experience some tremendous opportunities, from my TV news producing days in Evansville (IN) and Huntington/Charleston (WV) and Tampa to my time working for world-famous radio talk host Bubba the Love Sponge as both the show's Head of Syndication and later as a producer for the program.
I've also done some on-location television sports producing, gaining experience early in my television career on high school sports shows ("Home Team Friday") in Evansville on WEHT and then later as a producer on a Tampa Bay Buccaneers post-game show on WTSP in October 2001. More recently, I worked as a coordinating producer on a shoot in Nashville for an NHL Network show in October 2008.
